Entrance to many Italian universities requires passing a test. The entry test is the main tool in selecting new students for limited access programs (Medicine, Dentistry, Architecture) or to programs in which the number of students is determined by a national basis. In many of the other departments (Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Biology, Law, Economics and Business Studies, Psychology, Languages, Literature, Philosophy, Health Professions), the test is still required and is used to determine the students' beginning knowledge, so that gaps and deficiencies the student will have to remedy, can be identified.

Scuola Leonardo da Vinci offers preparation courses for the entrance exams of various departments. Participants can both improve their knowledge in specific areas covered by the tests as well as develop specialized language competence.
The course is organized just as the admission tests would be, in two parts: a) general knowledge, logical reasoning, reading comprehension; and b) specific knowledge required by each department.

PREREQUISITES

To participate in the course, students are required to have good Italian language skills (minimum level B1/B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Therefore it is advisable, if you do not already possess the required level of Italian, to first take a language course before enrolling in a preparation course.

CONTENTS

• General cultural knowledge, logical and reasoning skills (common in all departments). The course presents all basic contents with reference to past years exams.
  The objective is to develop and apply reasoning skills and at the same time foster the ability to identify hypotheses, evidence and error in logical processes. Students practice these logical processes using three different themes: find the best and most effective procedures to arrive at the solution of a given problem; select specific information; recognize relationships of similarity and difference, number sequences, relations between sets of elements and semantic relationships between words.
• Knowledge in the areas of science of various departments. In lessons devoted to specific scientific fields, in addition to the content, special attention is dedicated to the specialized vocabulary. It is crucial to have a good amount of knowledge of this specific vocabulary in order to be able to handle the sections of the selective admissions test dedicated to these topics.
